“Hamlet: Prince of Denmark” by William Shakespeare
Friday, Jan. 14 through Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005.

CHICAGO, IL … Keyhole Theatre Company presents William Shakespeare's HAMLET: PRINCE OF DENMARK, opening on Friday, Jan. 14, 2005. Directed by Artistic Director Frank Merle, HAMLET: PRINCE OF DENMARK will run Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 7PM through Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. This production follows Keyhole Theatre Company's critically acclaimed 2004 production of THIS IS OUR YOUTH, which was Highly Recommended in the Chicago Sun-Times and a Critic's Pick in the Chicago Tribune.

Director Frank Merle has aggressively cut the script of HAMLET: PRINCE OF DENMARK to just over two hours while keeping every character and plot point intact with the exception of the players and the play-within-the-play, which have been eliminated for this production. The setting is traditional late-medieval Denmark and the scenic concept is minimalist. The cast includes Bobby Zaman as Hamlet, Lisa Butterfield as Gertrude, Richard Engling as Polonius, Kyle Lemieux as Claudius, Erin Killean as Ophelia, Jeff Radue as Laertes and Stuart Ritter as Horatio. Rounding out the ensemble are Zack Brenner, Rory Leahy, Jared Martzell, John Pick, Thomas Reedy and Jason LeCompte.
Keyhole Theatre Company's production of HAMLET: PRINCE OF DENMARK opens on Friday, January 14, 2005 at 8PM at the Josephinum, 1501 N. Oakley Blvd in Chicago. The show runs Fridays and Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 7PM through Sunday, February 20, 2005. Tickets are $15.00 each for all performances. Group rates are available.
